​Director Sally Robinson

Sally Robinson becomes the first full time Chaplain at Lenoir Retirement Center, a ministry of the National Benevolent Association and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Columbia Older Adult Ministry provides spiritual and emotional support to the growing elderly population in long-term care and retirement facilities. Though this is an ecumenical ministry, it is recognized as a ministry of the Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) of Columbia. Reverend Sally Robinson, Director for the Columbia Older Adult Ministry is a Disciples of Christ minister and has many years of experience working with the elderly and their families. She adheres to the Ministerial Code of Ethics of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the code of ethics of the Association of Professional Chaplains.

The Ivis Silvey family creates an endowment to provides an endowment to support Chaplaincy services at Lenoir.

Welcome to the Columbia Older Adult Ministry website. This gives you a glimpse into the important ministry being done in Columbia, Missouri in long-term care and retirement communities. Often older adults are forgotten by their congregations and friends when they no longer are able to attend worship service and activities. In many ways Columbia Older Adult Ministry brings church to them and a sense of belonging to a community.

Sharing compassion, love, and care of God with older adults

The National Benevolent Association declares bankruptcy and Lenoir is sold as a part of the settlement, eliminating all NBA chaplain positions. Residents of Lenoir petition the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to save the position at Lenoir, leading to the establishment of the position for Older Adult Ministries, with offices at the Disciples' Area office in Columbia.
